Palsta Wine Bar
When restaurant visionary Viivi Haussila-Seppo was getting ready to open her Scandinavian infused winebar and restaurant Palsta, she had a clear idea of what she wanted, but lacked the tools needed to translate her vision into reality. My job involved diving into her mind and extracting this vision and applying it to the planned location in Schillerkiez, Neukölln.
As always, I approach projects by looking at what’s already there, to see what can be uncovered and highlighted: The premises were in need of proper restoration, but had plenty of potential. The paint and tile colors were chosen directly from the palette found in the place’s existing Terrazzo floors and the layers of old paint hidden in the flaking plaster walls. Several of these features were left raw and sealed, framed and tightened up with a selection of rich grey-tones, to create the perfect, abstemious frame for Palsta’s flavor boasting and lush menu.
