Music for Dance
I created the album art for Peter Kirn’s online release Music for Dance, a compilation of music he produced for choreographers, 2002-2011. The music was recomposed into a continuous soundscape, giving it a new narrative.
I realize looking back at this work that it represents a chapter in my life, living in Manhattan and working in computer sounds in live, improvisatory contexts, challenged and transformed by the experience of space and time found in the modern dance scene there. Now, looking back on those nine years in New York City takes on a special meaning.
The patterns are drawn from choreography books and schematics showing traditional dance forms and used in combination with Kirn’s own photography from New York.
