John Muir has been open now for just over a month and has already become everyone’s favorite neighborhood bar. As their graphic designer and art director I’ve been working closely with the team throughout the process and have seen the place unfold from a dingy basement to a cocktail haven — inspiring the design along the way. What started as ideas and images collected on a messy mood board has now manifested itself as strong and cohesive visual identity that compliments the beautiful interior created by the two owners Marwin Bald and Kate Coffee. While there’s still a few more elements to be added, the identity is close to completion, with the website, which was finished today, being the last addition. Until I get a chance to document it all, check out the site— or better — come by the bar for a look — and taste!
